About Jeff Siarto
Jeff Siarto is a user experience and web designer living in Chicago. He is the co-author of Head First Web Design, a comprehensive resource on designing professional websites published by O’Reilly Media in 2008.
Jeff graduated from Michigan State University with a Masters degree in Digital Media Arts and Technology from the Department of Telecommunication, Information Studies and Media. His graduate studies included work in design research, human-computer interaction, web standards and open courseware publishing systems. In addition, he taught classes in web design and information technology and worked as a web developer for the College of Communication Arts and Sciences Information Technology Office.
Jeff is an avid foodie, Iron Chef Japan enthusiast and an occasional guitar player. Twice a week he works with fellow web geeks and telecommuters at Jelly and spends the rest of his time 44 floors above Chicago’s Theatre District with is girlfried and semi-evil cat.

This site is built using Web Standards and published with Wordpress. It uses a custom-built template and the WP-Super Cache plugin to improve performance and speed. Design and development was done on a 15-inch MacBook Pro using Textmate, Photoshop and Transmit. The site is powered by Media Temple’s Grid Service and runs on a stack of open source software including Apache and PHP.
